Color MFA

Further to the retro fitting of the RNS-E and MFSW (see my blog post here…Retro fit in the S3) I wanted to update the DIS in the cluster as I was starting to get the age old missing pixel issue…

I could have just got a replacement but as I am all about the gadgets I went for the Color MFA replacement… this is a kit made by a bunch of russian guys and its pretty damn cool… does mean a bit of work to fit though…

Basically you have to strip the cluster to remove the old DIS screen…

…then desolder the surface mount LED’s under it…

…once thats done you need to cut and solder wires to the Color MFA board to run to the connectors on the cluster PCB…

…and hopefully it should all work!!..

Bit of modding and tweaking then once back together it looks a bit like this…

It uses the same controls as the factory DIS but offers more features including VCDS like diagnostics to check fault codes in the various modules in the car…

It has configurable displays using dials/gauges or graphs and can even show a boost gauge using a suitable input from a MAP sensor… I have added a second map sensor to do this so I can lose my A-piller mounted boost gauge…

Sadly due to a series of unfortunate events (see my blog post here…So…. this happened…) I haven’t had much chance to experience it but from what I have seen so far its a fantastic upgrade to the factory DIS
